STEM Cells

Guiding aspiring minds towards the building blocks of a path in STEM

What is STEM Cells?

A stem cell is the building block of the body and is a basic unit that can transform into a cell with specialized functions– such as neurons and red blood cells. Despite their microscopic size, stem cells lay the foundations for constructing and repairing the harmonious systems which form the human body.

Similarly, STEM Cells are aspiring researchers that will specialize in a field and eventually help lay the foundations for future researchers, advancement of the field, and further knowledge. Research itself is a very exciting process that allows the researcher to get familiar with their field of interest; it is constantly changing as new methods are developed and novel ideas build upon the foundations laid out by preceding scientists. Despite its transformative nature, however, getting started on the research process may be very daunting. For motivated researchers who may not have as many resources, especially those who are of minority backgrounds that are historically underrepresented in the Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) fields, the lack of guidance towards a clear research path can be even more difficult.

STEM Cells is created with the intention of providing aspiring scientists with tools, resources, and advice that can help them navigate the world of STEM research. It is a living resource and is constantly being modified as new modifications and new contributors are added.
